The 4th Annual Home Run Derby is on!

As
the Lionettes gear up for their run at the State Championship, another
Champion will be determined. The 4th Annual Home Run Derby is
slated for Saturday, Feb 13th at 1pm at Lionette Stadium. Entry
fee is $20. A trophy will be
presented to the Champion. This event is open to the public. Can
a student step up and take the championship?

January 24, 2010
This
weekend marked the official beginning for the Lionette's season as
practice was underway. Saturday's practice had to be moved
indoors due to rain, but that did not hamper progress. Coach
Greenway gave a good feel for the first practice. "This was one
of the best indoor practices we have had. Obviously everybody
wants to be outside. The team worked hard and accomplished their
objectives."
McKinney Softball has several scrimmages beginning
February 2 and opens the Season against Crosstown 5A rival McKinney
Boyd at Boyd's field on Feb 16.(The Lionettes won last year's matchup
9-1 and have a 3-2 record against the Broncos) After the opener,
Greenway scheduled some of the best teams before District
9-4A gets under way. 5A Flower Mound and Plano West are
slated before going to the Round Rock tournament. McKinney will
then face the highly touted Coppell team, starting 9 seniors, all of
which have committed to play softball in college.
The 4th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive

Five
families will have a full Thanksgiving dinner due to the teamwork of
the McKinney Lionette softball team. In its 4th year, the
Thanksgiving event is fast becoming a McKinney Softball tradition. The
Lionettes were split into 5 teams. Each team went out and
purchased all of the items needed for a festive Thanksgiving dinner,
everything from Turkey to Pie. Thursday after school, they loaded
the baskets in their cars and delivered them to the families.

On Wednesday, three Senior Lionettes signed National Letters of Intent
to play D1 and D2 softball in college.
Chelsey
Rephan signed to play for Henderson State University in Arkadelphia,
Arkansas. The Diamond Reddies play in the
Division II Gulf South
Conference (GSC).
Ashley
Thomas signed to play for Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia. The
Yellow Jackets play in the Division 1 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
Jennifer
Gilbert signed to play for Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
The Cardinals play in the Division 1 Mid-American Conference
(MAC).
