McKinney (2-4) traveled to Lovejoy looking to even up their record and overall improvement as a team. It looked as if the Lionettes were doing a good job of both when they scored three runs after a walk, three awesome bunts back to back to back, and RBI singles by Thomas and Marrs. However going into the bottom of the fifth McKinney broke down mentally and allowed the Lady Leopards to score six runs on five hits and an error. The sixth didn’t fare much better for McKinney defensively after routine plays gave way to four more errors and four runs.
Your Lionettes look to recoup and bounce back starting tomorrow as they travel for a three day tournament at Southlake.

Your McKinney Varsity Softball team moved to 2-2 on the season this morning after a 4-0 win against Whitehouse in the Forney Tournament. Sophomore Chelsea Thomas pitched a one-hitter, then helped her own cause by adding a two run homerun in the 5th. Sophomore Mika Stutts also contributed to the offense by adding an RBI double. The Lionettes look to improve their record later this afternoon in a 7:35 matchup against Van.

The Lionettes (0-1) stepped up to the challenge placed on them by the coaching staff to hold Wakeland to five hits or less and have less than two errors. The team answered by playing a near flawless game last night and that was against the state’s top ranked team no less. Wakeland got on the scoreboard first on a home run in the fourth but McKinney answered with a run of their own when Alyssa Fontillas who reached first base on a single, moved to second on drag bunt single from Courtney Derrick, then scored on an RBI single by sister Krissy Fontillas. Even though Chelsea Thomas pitched a great game by keeping an offensively aggressive Wakeland team off balance they were able to score in the sixth after a leadoff single and three walks unfortunately one of those walks came when the bases were loaded. Despite coming up short last night the coaching staff was very pleased and considered the game an overall success for the young team. The Lionettes head to Forney not Sulphur Springs this weekend for a three day tournament starting Thursday.
